About Weir Street Light Engineering Ltd
Shortly after the end of the second world war Jack Whigham started Weir Street Light
Engineering to provide engine refurbishing and rebuilding services primarily to the
haulage industry in the Blackburn area. Moving into new purpose built premises
in 1966, the company bought in new machine tools and laid the foundations for the
current business, based on the quality and good service that still marks out the company
today.
On Jack's retirement in 1967 his son, Donald, took over the business, servicing some of the
region's larger haulage companies and car dealerships many of which are still well known names:
Castle Cement, Miles Fox, Westwood and Cicily.
Today Weir Street is still a family business, run by Donald's sons, Miles and Ivan,
and it is still justly proud of its expertise.
So if your engine doesn't deliver, whether it's your playboy yacht, the old company van
or a fleet of ex stately home lawn mowers you've picked up on ebay, give us a call.
We do deliver - and collect - throughout the East Lancs region.
